COSTUME SHOP MANAGER

  • Position(s): 1
  • Dates: Tues May 16 – Mon August 28
  • Pay: $900.00 a week, salaried position
  • Housing: Shared housing provided.  Housing has basic furnishings, is collegiate style, with possible shared bedrooms
  • Travel: Not provided
  • Location: Brunswick, ME

Primary Responsibilities

Essential functions include (but are not limited to):

  • Supervise a staff of 5
  • Organize and oversee costume builds and fitting schedules
  • Work with the costume designer, stage management, and each production’s creative team with the coordinating, scheduling, and execution of costume needs for each production
  • Maintain and track the costume budget which includes material purchases and labor
  • Coordinate with costume rental houses
  • Maintaining inventory
  • Attend all run-throughs, backstage prep, all technical rehearsals, performances, load ins, and strikes as scheduled
  • Work with the wardrobe department organizing and maintaining costumes during the run of shows and assist with the running of shows on an as needed basis
  • Attend all production meetings
  • Participate in MSMT events as needed and required
  • Adhere to all MSMT policies and procedures including Covid 19 Guidelines & Safety protocols
  • Drive MSMT vehicles
  • Motivate with a positive and respectful attitude
  • Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful working environment
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Production and MSMT Annual Staff

Qualifications

The following skills and experience are required:

  • Superior knowledge and experience of costume construction and alteration techniques such as machine and hand sewing, draping, millinery, tailoring, pattern creation, pattern adaptation, pattern tracing, fitting, and altering
  • Proficient with domestic and/or industrial sewing machines and other applicable equipment common to costume workrooms
  • Knowledge of clothing materials, fabrics, notions, and proven ability to work with them
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, and communication skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, energized, and quickly changing environment
  • Able to work independently and as a team player
  • Detail oriented; able to prioritize efficiently and multi-task
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and any applicable software
  • Knowledge of basic AEA costume guidelines a plus
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record required
  • Car preferred but not required
  • Must be fully vaccinated and boosted from the Covid-19 virus

 

 

ASSISTANT COSTUME SHOP MANAGER

  • Position(s): 1

  • Pay: $825.00 a week, salaried position
  • Housing: Shared housing provided.  Housing has basic furnishings, is collegiate style, with shared bedrooms
  • Travel: Not provided
  • Location: Brunswick, ME

Primary Responsibilities

Essential functions include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist with supervising a staff of 5
  • Assist with the organizing and overseeing of the costume builds and fitting schedules
  • Assist the costume designer, stage management, and each production’s creative team with the coordinating, scheduling, and execution of costume needs for each production

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the costume construction and alteration projects
  • Provide quality control and safety checks for all assigned costume projects
  • Maintain costume shop equipment
  • Provide training and promote best safety practices for costume construction and alteration
  • Attend/assist with all run-throughs, backstage prep, all technical rehearsals, performances, load ins, and strikes as scheduled
  • Participate in MSMT events as needed and/or required
  • Adhere to all MSMT policies and procedures including Covid 19 Guidelines & Safety protocols
  • Drive MSMT vehicles

  • Position(s): 3
  • Dates: Tues May 23 – Sun August 27
  • Pay: $15.00 an hour, hourly position
  • Housing: Shared housing shall be provided for a fee of $75.00 a week.  The housing fee shall be deducted weekly from the employee’s paycheck.  Housing has basic furnishings, is collegiate style, with shared bedrooms
  • Travel: Not provided
  • Location: Brunswick, ME

Primary Responsibilities

  • Construct and alter all MSMT costumes
  • Work with the wardrobe department organizing and maintaining costumes during the run of shows and assist with the running of shows on an as needed basis
  • Attend/assist with all run-throughs, backstage prep, all technical rehearsals, performances, load ins, and strikes as scheduled
  • Participate in MSMT events as needed and/or required
  • Adhere to all MSMT policies and procedures including Covid 19 Guidelines & Safety protocols
  • Drive MSMT vehicles
  • Have a positive and respectful attitude
  • Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful working environment
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Production and MSMT Annual Staff
