HEAD ELECTRICIAN

  • Position(s): 1
  • Dates: Tues May 16 – Mon August 28
  • Pay: $900.00 a week, salaried position
  • Housing: Shared housing provided. Housing has basic furnishings, is collegiate style, with possible shared bedrooms
  • Travel: Not provided
  • Location: Brunswick, ME

Primary Responsibilities

Essential functions include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist the Lighting and Video Supervisor with day-to-day operations
  • Supervise a crew of 4
  • Work with Designers and the Artistic teams for each production to realize their vision
  • Perform as an electrician for load-ins, changeovers, focus calls, strikes, notes calls, and maintenance calls
  • Show preparation which includes preparing required equipment, organization of color, templates, and other consumables as well as the wiring of practicals and effects
  • Maintenance/repair of lighting department equipment and facilities as assigned: including (but not limited to) theatrical lighting instrumentation, practical electrical properties, backstage running lights, projection equipment, chemical and dry ice foggers, effects devices, cue lights and tech tables
  • Program and run of the lighting console for all technical, dress and brush-up rehearsals, note sessions, and performances as assigned by the Lighting Director
  • Involvement as a show electrician (Followspot Operator, Deck Electrician, or Video Technician) as productions require
  • Assist with creating a rotating schedule, per production, for the programing and running of the light console, followspot operator, deck electrician, and/or video technician for all technical, dress and brush-up rehearsals, note sessions, and performances
  • Attend/assist with all run-throughs, backstage prep, all technical rehearsals, performances, load ins, and strikes as scheduled
  • Perform daily dimmer/focus checks to maintain the lighting design during the run of the show- correcting any focus problems, changing lamps or burned gel as needed
  • Run all phases of installation and programming
  • Responsible for the organization/installation/build/safety of all electrical practicals and effects
    • LED tape

    • Smoke/Haze Effects
  • Oversee the execution of lighting plots, hang, and focus
  • Coordinate with other departments regarding safety lighting and location of LX equipment and effects
  • Dedication to workplace safety including best practices in electrical safety, theatrical rigging, and working at height
  • Maintain budgets
  • Attend all production meetings
  • Participate in MSMT events as needed and/or required
  • Adhere to all MSMT policies and procedures including Covid 19 Guidelines & Safety protocols
  • Drive MSMT vehicles
  • Motivate with a positive and respectful attitude
  • Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful working environment
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Production and MSMT Annual Staff

Qualifications Head Electrician

The following skills and experience are required:

  • Superior knowledge and experience with ETC Eos Consoles and accessories
  • Experience with programming, rigging, hazers, foggers, theatrical effects, LED tape, intelligent lighting fixtures, practicals, and standard theatrical practices
  • Proven budget management skills
  • Aptitude for creative technical and artistic problem solving
  • Familiar with Vectorworks, Microsoft Office, video production and playback software including QLab
  • Able to manage teams and foster both team and individual growth among employees
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, multi-tasking, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, energized, and quickly changing environment
  • Able to work independently and as a team player
  • Detail oriented; able to prioritize efficiently and multi-task
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record required
  • Car preferred but not required

ASSISTANT HEAD ELECTRICIAN

  • Pay: $825.00 a week, salaried position
  • Housing: Shared housing provided.  Housing has basic furnishings, is collegiate style, with shared bedrooms
  • Travel: Not provided
  • Location: Brunswick, ME

Primary Responsibilities

Essential Functions include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist the Head Electrician with day-to-day operations
  • Work with designers and the Artistic teams for each production to realize their vision

LIGHTING and VIDEO SUPERVISOR

Primary Responsibilities

Essential Functions include (but are not limited to):

  • Supervise a crew of 5
  • Collaborate with Designers and the Artistic teams for each production to realize their vision
  • Ensure designers have accurate technical information necessary such as the cost and feasibility of each video design, and negotiate modifications
  • Organize & execute load-ins, changeovers, focus calls, strikes, tech, notes calls and maintenance calls
  • Show preparation which includes preparing required equipment, organization of color, templates, and other consumables as well as the wiring of practicals and effects
  • Maintain and safeguard rental Video Wall
  • Maintain and repair lighting department equipment, and facilities as assigned: including (but not limited to) theatrical lighting instrumentation, practical electrical properties, backstage running lights, projection equipment, chemical, and dry ice foggers, effects devices, cue lights, and tech tables
  • Involvement as a show electrician (Followspot Operator, Deck Electrician, or Video Technician) as productions require
  • Create a rotating schedule for electrics staff, per production, with the programing and running of the light console, followspot operator, deck electrician, and/or video technician for all technical, dress and brush-up rehearsals, note sessions, and performances
  • Attend/assist with all run-throughs, backstage prep, all technical rehearsals, performances, load ins, and strikes as scheduled
  • Program and run the lighting console for all technical, dress and brush-up rehearsals, note sessions, and performances as assigned by the Lighting Director
  • Perform daily dimmer/focus checks to maintain the lighting design during the run of the show- correcting any focus problems, changing lamps or burned gel as needed
  • Run all phases of installation, and programming

Qualifications

The following skills and experience are required:

  • Superior knowledge and experience with ETC Eos Consoles and accessories
  • Experience with programming, rigging, hazers, foggers, theatrical effects, LED tape, intelligent lighting fixtures, practicals, and standard theatrical practices
  • Expert knowledge of theatrical video design, technology, process, and practice, including applicable electrical standards and codes.
  • Proven budget management skills
  • Aptitude for creative technical and artistic problem solving
  • Seasoned with Vectorworks, Microsoft Office, video production and playback software including QLab
  • Able to manage teams and foster both team, and individual growth among employees
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, multi-tasking, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, energized, and quickly changing environment

ELECTRICS STAFF

  • Dates: Tues May 23 – Sun August 27
  • Pay: $15.00 an hour, hourly position
  • Housing: Shared housing shall be provided for a fee of $75.00 a week.  The housing fee shall be deducted weekly from the employee’s paycheck.  Housing has basic furnishings, is collegiate style, with shared bedrooms
  • Travel: Not provided
  • Location: Brunswick, ME

  • Work load-ins, changeovers, strikes, focus calls, notes calls, and maintenance calls for each production
  • Production prep for required equipment, organization of color, templates, and other consumables
  • Wiring of practicals and effects
  • Run all phases of installation and programming
  • Maintain and repair all lighting equipment such as theatrical lighting instrumentation, practical electrical properties, backstage running lights, projection equipment, chemical and dry ice foggers, effects devices, cue lights, and tech tables
