ASSISTANT SCENIC PAINTS CHARGE

  • Position(s): 1
  • Dates: Tues May 23 – Sun August 13
  • Pay: $825.00 a week, salaried position
  • Housing: Shared housing provided.  Housing has basic furnishings, is collegiate style, with shared bedrooms
  • Travel: Not provided
  • Location: Brunswick, ME

Primary Responsibilities

Essential functions include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist the Scenic Paints Charge with the day-to-day operations
  • Work with Designers and the Artistic team for each production to realize their vision
  • Interpret design renderings
  • Mix colors based on designer renderings and color-matching based on existing pieces
  • Base, primary, and finish painting of all hard pieces of scenery
  • Sculpting and carving of foam shapes
  • Laying out and painting of backdrops
  • Work with the props department and scene shop on specialty paint and construction
  • Touch-up and maintain all completed projects
  • Organize, maintain, and clean workspaces and tools
  • Attend/assist with all run-throughs, backstage prep, all technical rehearsals, performances, load ins, and strikes as scheduled
  • Attend production meetings as needed
  • Participate in MSMT events as needed and/or required
  • Adhere to all MSMT policies and procedures including Covid 19 Guidelines & Safety protocols
  • Drive MSMT vehicles
  • Motivate with a positive and respectful attitude
  • Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful working environment
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Production and MSMT Annual Staff

Qualifications

The following skills and experience are required:

  • Advanced knowledge and experience of painting techniques, color mixing, sizing, and painting theatrical drops; theatrical carving and sculpting
  • Intermediate knowledge of scenery construction
  • Ability to read and interpret working drawings and renderings
  • Preferred knowledge with safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Photoshop
  • Able to manage teams and foster both team and individual growth among employees
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, multi-tasking, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, energized, and quickly changing environment
  • Able to work independently and as a team player
  • Detail oriented; able to prioritize efficiently and multi-task
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record required
  • Car preferred but not required
  • Must be fully vaccinated and boosted from the Covid-19 virus

 

 

PAINTS STAFF

  • Position(s): 1
  • Dates: Tues May 23 – Sun August 13
  • Pay: $15.00 an hour, hourly position
  • Housing: Shared housing shall be provided for a fee of $75.00 a week.  The housing fee shall be deducted weekly from the employee’s paycheck.  Housing has basic furnishings, is collegiate style, with shared bedrooms
  • Travel: Not provided
  • Location: Brunswick, ME
