ASSISTANT PRODUCTION MANAGER

  • Dates: Tues May 16 – Mon August 28
  • Pay: $950.00 a week, salaried position
  • Housing: Shared housing provided.  Housing has basic furnishings, is collegiate style, with possible shared bedrooms
  • Travel: Not provided
  • Location: Brunswick, ME

Primary Responsibilities

Essential functions include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist as a liaison between the Managing Director, Artistic Director, directors, designers, and production staff
  • Assist designers for each department in order implement their designs
  • Assist with deadlines, and schedules
  • Assist with production meetings and training sessions
  • Assist with the production schedule
  • Oversee the scenic construction of all productions
  • Assist with the building of sets, props, paints, and any department needing help
  • Assist with operating, maintaining, and safeguarding the technical assets of the theatre
  • Assist with scheduling and facilitating all load-ins, strikes, technical rehearsals and preview performances of the mainstage, concert series and TYA productions
  • Assist with overhire staff for load ins, strikes and in shows as needed
  • Assisting with communications with all departments
  • Ensuring that all rules and regulations set by Bowdoin College are strictly adhered too
  • Attend/assist with all run-throughs, backstage prep, all technical rehearsals, performances, load ins, and strikes as scheduled
  • Maintain budgets
  • Attend all production meetings
  • Participate in MSMT events as needed and/or required
  • Adhere to all MSMT policies and procedures including Covid 19 Guidelines & Safety protocols
  • Drive MSMT vehicles and box trucks
  • Motivate with a positive and respectful attitude
  • Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful working environment
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Production and MSMT Annual Staff

Qualifications

The following skills and experience are required:

  • Knowledge of the inner workings of all production departments
  • Strong proficiency in CAD and manual drafting, carpentry, welding, rigging, scenic construction techniques, automation, theatrical effects, and production scheduling Trained in the safe operation of stationary and portable power tools and hand tools
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and other applicable software
  • Able to manage teams and foster both team and individual growth among employees
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, multi-tasking, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, energized, and quickly changing environment
  • Able to work independently and as a team player
  • Detail oriented; able to prioritize efficiently and multi-task
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record required
  • Car preferred but not required
  • Must be fully vaccinated and boosted from the Covid-19 virus
