ASSISTANT PROPS MANAGER
- Position(s): 1
- Dates: Tues May 23 – Sun Aug 27
- Pay: $825.00 a week, salaried position
- Housing: Shared housing provided. Housing has basic furnishings, is collegiate style, with shared bedrooms
- Travel: Not provided
- Location: Brunswick, ME
Primary Responsibilities
Essential functions include (but are not limited to):
- Assist Props Manager on day-to-day tasks, responsibilities, and supervision of staff
- Assist with the execution of prop builds, set dress, load-ins, and strikes of all productions
- Assist with working with Designers and the Artistic teams for each production to realize their vision
- Construct, paint, acquire, and finish all properties as needed including hand props, paper goods, furniture, furnishings and set decorations for all productions
- Repair, upholster, and refinish properties borrowed, purchased, or constructed for productions
- Pull properties from stock as needed for productions, rental, or rehearsal, which includes transporting furniture to and from an offsite warehouse
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and stock items, and participate in the day-to-day maintenance of the prop shop facilities
- Coordinate with scenery, paints, and costume departments regarding set dressing and special projects
- Facilitate rentals and/or purchases
- Attend/assist with all run-throughs, backstage prep, all technical rehearsals, performances, load ins, and strikes as scheduled
- Maintain budgets
- Attend all production meetings as needed
- Participate in MSMT events as needed and/or required
- Adhere to all MSMT policies and procedures including Covid 19 Guidelines & Safety protocols
- Drive MSMT vehicles
- Motivate with a positive and respectful attitude
- Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful working environment
- Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Production and MSMT Annual Staff
Qualifications
The following skills and experience are required:
- Experience in the safe operation of stationary and portable power tools and hand tools
- Ability to read and interpret working drawings and renderings
- Skilled with woodworking, framing, and finished carpentry; metal working and welding; furniture finishing; sculpture, casting, and molding; upholstery, soft goods, and sewing; crafting and painting
- Aptitude for creative technical and artistic problem solving
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Photoshop
- Able to manage teams and foster both team and individual growth among employees
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, multi-tasking, problem solving, and communication skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced, energized, and quickly changing environment
- Able to work independently and as a team player
- Detail oriented; able to prioritize efficiently and multi-task
- Driver’s license and clean driving record required
- Car preferred but not required
- Must be fully vaccinated and boosted from the Covid-19 virus
PROPS STAFF
- Position(s): 1
- Dates: Tues May 23 – Sun Aug 27
- Pay: $15.00 an hour, hourly position
- Housing: Shared housing shall be provided for a fee of $75.00 a week. The housing fee shall be deducted weekly from the employee’s paycheck. Housing has basic furnishings, is collegiate style, with shared bedrooms
- Travel: Not provided
- Location: Brunswick, ME
