HOUSING

Housing is included for all positions. As of January 2022, the average cost of renting a 1-bedroom apartment in Cumberland County Maine is approximately $1,000 per month.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Vaccination: MSMT is a fully vaccinated company.  All employees must be fully vaccinated and have had all vaccine boosters against the Covid-19 virus prior to arrival in Maine and/or start date.

Testing: All employees will be required to be tested for the Covid-19 virus and have a negative test result 24 hours prior to arrival in Maine and/or start date. Proof of negative test is required on the day of arrival or start date. All employees are responsible for any pre-employment Covid-19 test costs. All employees could possibly be tested during employment based on the current Covid climate and when deemed necessary.

Masks: All employees will be required to wear masks at all of MSMT venue’s and housing, follow applicable mandates by the Federal, State, and local governments Covid-19 guidelines, CDC Covid-19 guidelines, and MSMT’s Covid-19 guidelines while employed by MSMT.

Driver’s License and Record:  Most positions require driving a MSMT vehicle.  An up-to-date driver’s license and clean driving record must be provided during the interview process.

Lifting and Moving:  All employees Must be able to lift 25 pounds or more.  All positions involve lifting and moving large cumbersome boxes, packages etc.


ADMINISTRATION

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

 Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Works with the Development and Marketing departments
  • Assisting the Company Manager and the Artistic Director as needed
  • Maintaining and posting on MSMT’s Social Media
  • Editing

  • Admin duties: paperwork, filing, copying, mailing, returning phone calls and emails

BOX OFFICE ASSISTANTS

# Position(s): 3-6
Full and Part-time
Dates: June 1 – August 27
Pay: $15.00 hour

 Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assisting the Audience Services Manager and Asst. Audience Services Manager with day-to-day operations in the Box Office
  • Working at Pickard Theatre during performances for ticket sales, will-call tickets, patron check-in’s, seating as needed
  • Selling single tickets for the 2023 season
  • Assisting in the renewals of subscriptions
  • Assisting all theatre guests with ticket sales, exchange, etc.
  • Assisting with restricting access to the box office by unauthorized personnel
  • Assisting with the daily cash-outs and deposits
  • Working at the 22 Elm St Box Office as needed
  • Display ability to convey decisions to staff and patrons in a calm, courteous and professional manner
  • Working nights and weekends
  • Work schedules are determined by the Audience Services Manager based on employee availability

PAINTS/SCENIC

PAINTS CHARGE

  • Assisting the Paint Charge with supervising paint shop staff
  • Assisting with painting and finishing of all scenic elements for each production in the season

PAINTS STAFF

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Interpreting design renderings
  • Mix color based on designer renderings and color-matching based on existing pieces
  • Creation of pounces and stencils
  • Base, primary, and finish painting of all hard pieces of scenery
  • Sculpting and carving of organic foam shapes
  • Laying out and painting of backdrops either upright on a paint frame or painted flat on a stage
  • Assisting the props department on specialty paint projects as requested
  • Touch-up and maintenance of all completed projects
  • Assisting in organization and maintenance of workspaces and tools
  • Maintaining a clean and safe workspace
  • Assisting with the dismantling, cleaning and warehousing of the paint shop facilities after the the final show

HEAD CARPENTER

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Receiving and interpreting build drawings
  • Overseeing the safe and proper construction of scenic elements, including quality control
  • Keeping an open line of communication with the Assistant Technical Director, including questions, concerns, and generally relaying information from the floor to the Scenery Office
  • Collaborating with and facilitating the requests of the Lead Scenic Artist, and other Production Department requests in the room
  • Supervising the crew in the proper use and storage of all hand tools and power tools
  • Maintaining an orderly and safe working environment, including the enforcement of the theater’s safety policies regarding hardhats, genies, scaffolding and hoisting
  • Purchasing materials
  • Building, installation, and maintenance of sets
  • Assisting with coordinating load-in/strike/load-out
  • Design/build automation systems, creating theatrical effects

SOUND

SOUND MANAGER/DESIGNER TYA & CONCERTS

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supervising a crew of 5
  • Installation of the sound package
  • Seting up all microphones, wired and wireless, backline gear, monitors, processing/effects equipment and mixing console for all shows
  • Running sound for all mainstage show and concerts, special events and TYA’s as needed
  • Working with Sound Designer with recording/editing sound effects
  • Consulting with the directors & designers about all artistic/sound choices
  • Maintain budget
  • Attending all production meetings, and technical rehearsals.
  • Designing and running board for TYA’s and Concerts

  • Maintain the work areas for other sound professionals to ensure the safety and productivity for the team
