Sound Department

SOUND MANAGER/DESIGNER TYA & CONCERTS

  • Position(s): 1
  • Dates: Tues May 16 – Mon August 28
  • Pay: $1,200.00 a week, salaried position
  • Housing: Shared housing provided.  Housing has basic furnishings, is collegiate style, with possible shared bedrooms
  • Travel: Not provided
  • Location: Brunswick, ME

Primary Responsibilities

Essential functions include (but are not limited to):

  • Supervise a staff of 4
  • Work with Designers and the Artistic teams for each production to fulfill their artistic/sound choices and realize their vision
  • Install the sound package
  • Set up of all microphones (wired and wireless), backline gear, monitors, processing/effects equipment, and the mixing console for all shows
  • Run sound for all mainstage shows and concerts, special events, and TYAs as needed
  • Work with the Sound Designer with recording/editing sound effects
  • Design and run board for TYAs and Concerts
  • Maintain equipment, supplies, and stock items; participate in day-to-day maintenance
  • Facilitate rentals and/or purchases
  • Attend/assist with all run-throughs, backstage prep, all technical rehearsals, performances, load ins, and strikes as scheduled
  • Maintain budgets
  • Attend all production meetings
  • Participate in MSMT events as needed and/or required
  • Adhere to all MSMT policies and procedures including Covid 19 Guidelines & Safety protocols
  • Drive MSMT vehicles and box trucks
  • Motivate with a positive and respectful attitude
  • Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful working environment
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Production and MSMT Annual Staff

Qualifications

The following skills and experience are required:

  • Superior skills in mixing, editing, and creating effects
  • Excellence in tracking and budgeting consumable expenses
  • Knowledge and experience using DiGiCo sound consoles, Lectrosonics SSM wireless mics, Sennhesier wireless mics, Clear-Comm and Hearing Assist Systems
  • Aptitude for creative technical and artistic problem solving
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and other applicable software
  • Able to manage teams and foster both team and individual growth among employees
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, multi-tasking, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, energized, and quickly changing environment
  • Able to work independently and as a team player
  • Detail oriented; able to prioritize efficiently and multi-task
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record required
  • Car preferred but not required
  • Must be fully vaccinated and boosted from the Covid-19 virus

Primary Responsibilities

Essential functions include (but are not limited to):

  • Work with Designers and the Artistic teams for each production to fulfill their artistic/sound choices and realize their vision
  • Mix the mainstage series shows
  • Show call crew chief for the sound department and assist in the managing of the sound crew during tech and changeovers
  • Assist with the installation of the sound package
  • Assist as needed, the set-up of all microphones (wired and wireless), backline gear, monitors, processing/effects equipment, and the mixing console for all shows
  • Run sound for concerts, special events, and TYAs as needed
  • Work with the Sound Designer with recording/editing sound effects
  • Maintain equipment, supplies, and stock items; participate in day-to-day maintenance

  • Be the point person for the sound department backstage
  • Assist with the installation of the sound package
  • Assist as needed, the set-up of all microphones (wired and wireless), backline gear, monitors, processing/effects equipment, and the mixing console for all shows
  • Run sound for concerts, special events, and TYAs as needed
  • Maintain equipment, supplies, and stock items; participate in day-to-day maintenance
  • Attend/assist with all run-throughs, backstage prep, all technical rehearsals, performances, load ins, and strikes as scheduled
  • Participate in MSMT events as needed and/or required
  • Adhere to all MSMT policies and procedures including Covid 19 Guidelines & Safety protocols
  • Drive MSMT vehicles and box trucks

  • Previous professional experience as an A2 for large scale musicals
  • Intermediate knowledge of sound design for musicals

  • Knowledge and experience using DiGiCo sound consoles, Lectrosonics SSM wireless mics, Sennhesier wireless mics, Clear-Comm and Hearing Assist Systems
  • Aptitude for creative technical and artistic problem solving

SOUND STAFF

  • Position(s): 2
  • Dates: Tues May 23 – Sun Aug 27
  • Pay: $15.00 an hour, hourly position
  • Housing: Shared housing shall be provided for a fee of $75.00 a week.  The housing fee shall be deducted weekly from the employee’s paycheck.  Housing has basic furnishings, is collegiate style, with shared bedrooms
  • Travel: Not provided
  • Location: Brunswick, ME

Primary Responsibilities

Essential functions include (but are not limited to):

  • Assisting the Sound Manager in the day-to-day operations of the Sound Department
  • Set up microphones on performers and in various places in the theatre
  • Run sound checks; check sound levels and make sure the equipment is functioning correctly
  • Assist with the installation the sound package
  • Assist as needed, the set-up of all microphones (wired and wireless), backline gear, monitors, processing/effects equipment, and the mixing console for all shows
  • Run sound for concerts, special events, and TYAs as needed
  • Maintain equipment, supplies, and stock items; participate in day-to-day maintenance
  • Attend/assist with all run-throughs, backstage prep, all technical rehearsals, performances, load ins, and strikes as scheduled
  • Participate in MSMT events as needed and/or required
  • Adhere to all MSMT policies and procedures including Covid 19 Guidelines & Safety protocols
  • Drive MSMT vehicles and box trucks
  • Have a positive and respectful attitude
  • Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful working environment
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Production and MSMT Annual Staff

Qualifications

The following skills and experience are required:

  • Strong microphone application experience
  • Previous professional experience working on large scale musicals
  • Knowledge of sound design for musicals
  • Experience mixing, editing, creating effects, and basic rigging
  • Knowledge of all aspects of a modern theatrical sound system
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and other applicable software
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, multi-tasking, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, energized, and quickly changing environment
  • Able to work independently and as a team player
  • Detail oriented; able to prioritize efficiently and multi-task
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record required
  • Car preferred but not required
