TICKET POLICIES

These policies and discounts aim to enhance your theater experience and cater to a diverse range of patrons. Please call us at 207.725.8769 with further questions or concerns.

Refunds: Regrettably, refunds are not available for single-ticket purchases.

Ticket Exchanges: Please let us know if you need to exchange tickets at least three days (72 hours) before the performance. Lost Tickets: Don’t fret if you misplace your tickets! Visit the Box Office before your scheduled performance, and we’ll gladly reprint them.

General Theatre Policies

Maine State Music Theater operates its summer season (June – August) out of Bowdoin College’s Pickard Theater. The striking Gothic-style granite and stained-glass building offers 600 seats, a proscenium stage, and a full fly system.

Some main-stage productions may contain mature content, language, or themes that are not appropriate for children. We encourage you to seek additional information on each show you consider attending with a child. At the discretion of house management, anyone causing disruption and hindering the enjoyment of our other audience members will be removed from the theatre.

Running Times

Running times vary from show to show and will be published on individual show pages as information becomes available.

CAN MY CHILDREN COME TO THE SHOW?

Children under four are not permitted at our Mainstage shows or Concert Series, but children of all ages are welcome at our Family Theatre productions.

Seating Times & Late Arrivals

Seating begins 1/2 hour before every performance. Late patrons will be seated at the discretion of management at an appropriate break in the performance. The actors and your fellow patrons appreciate your cooperation.

Concessions are sold at the concession stand outside the theatre lobby or in inclement weather in the theater’s lower lobby. The concession stand opens open 1 hour before curtain and during intermission. A variety of beverages, snacks, and coffee are available. Alcoholic drinks are not sold at the theater.

Restrooms

Fully accessible restrooms are located inside the lower lobby.

Accessibility

Elevators: The elevators are situated in the lobby to help patrons access the theater’s second-floor and balcony levels. Ushers are stationed at the elevators to assist guests.

Subscriber FAQ

WHAT IS A SUBSCRIBER?

A subscriber, or season ticket holder, is a patron who purchases tickets to all shows in a series (Mainstage, Concert Series, Family Theatre).

Subscriptions offer considerable savings compared to single-ticket prices.

HOW CAN I PURCHASE A NEW SUBSCRIPTION?
HOW CAN I RENEW MY SUBSCRIPTION?
  • Online: As a current subscriber, if there are no changes to your subscription from the previous year, you can renew online using the Subscriber Portal or click here to submit the online form and receive a callback from the ticket office.
  • By phone: Call the Box Office at (207) 725-8769 during business hours–9:00am-5:00pm from September-May, and 10:00am-5:00pm from June-August.
  • In Person: Visit the MSMT Box Office at 22 Elm Street, Brunswick.
WHAT IS THE “SUBSCRIBER PORTAL”?

As a season subscriber, you can now register for a Subscriber Portal to review your ticket orders, update your contact information, and renew your subscription online with a single click. To access this, please call or email the box office, and you will receive an email with your login information! 207.725.8769. boxoffice@msmt.org.

WHEN CAN I RENEW MY SUBSCRIPTION?

Subscription renewals must be completed by January 31 to guarantee your same seat(s). You will save more on your Mainstage subscription if you renew by our Early Bird deadline, October 31. After the Same Seat Renewal Deadline of January 31, subscriptions will still be available but will increase to the single ticket price. If you have a “pending renewal,” you’ll see your dates, seats, and the total subscription cost under the “Subscription Renewal” tab at the top of the page.

If you would like to change your subscription, please note the following:

  • Changes to seats/day/time are considered based on the date we receive payment for your renewal (first come, first served). The earlier we receive payment for a changed subscription, the better your chances of a successful change.
  • Be as specific as possible. Let us know which changes are most important to you (i.e., seat change over a day/time change).
  • If you have a special need (walker, wheelchair, oxygen, etc), please let us know so we can assign the most convenient seats for you.
  • We will do our best to grant your request but cannot guarantee your seating preferences. We will automatically assign your old seats and time if we cannot grant your request.
WHAT IS MY SERIES?

Your series is the day and time you see the performance. This means that if you attend the second week of the run on Friday nights, your Mainstage series will be on the 2nd Friday evening.

WHEN WILL I KNOW MY SERIES AND SEATS FOR THE UPCOMING SEASON?

As a new subscriber, you will receive confirmation of your seats via email. In April, you will receive a mailing with subscriber information for your series and your tickets (if you selected “ship” as the delivery method).

CAN I EXCHANGE A DATE IF IT NO LONGER WORKS FOR ME?

All subscribers may exchange their tickets for another performance of the same show. Exchanges may be subject to an upgrade fee. Availability may be limited as performances often sell out. All exchanges must be done at least 3 days (72 hours) before your scheduled ticketed performance. Due to popular demand, please make exchanges early in the season, as seating is limited. More information here.

CAN I RECEIVE A DONATION CREDIT FOR UNUSED TICKETS?

If you cannot exchange for another performance and need to return your tickets to the Box Office, we will credit the cost of the tickets as a tax-deductible donation to the theatre. Our Development Office will send you the appropriate documentation for a tax credit donation.

CAN I GET A SUBSCRIPTION REFUND?

Subscriptions can be refunded anytime before June 1. Upon request, we can turn a single ticket into a tax-deductible donation. COVID-19 EXCEPTION: If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or have been exposed to COVID-19, please immediately inform the Box Office at (207) 725-8769 for options. Single tickets can be turned into tax-deductible donations upon request.

I LOST MY TICKETS. WHAT DO I DO?

Don’t worry! The Box Office has a record of your subscription date and seat location. If you misplace your tickets, please come to the Box Office before your performance to have them reprinted.

I MISSED MY PERFORMANCE. WHAT CAN I DO?

We want all subscribers to have a chance to see the show. If you miss your performance or cannot give us 72 hours notice for an exchange, contact the Box Office to arrange for super Saver Seats. Seats are limited and based on availability. There is no guarantee seats will be available—box office: 207.725.8769.

WHAT AGE IS CONSIDERED A “SENIOR”?

Seniors are 65 years of age and older.

CAN MY CHILDREN COME TO THE SHOW?

Children under four are not permitted at our Mainstage shows or Concert Series. Children of all ages are welcome at our Theatre for Young Audiences productions.
