Join us at the Curtis Memorial Library for the 1956 film Anastasia, starring Ingrid Bergman, Yul Brenner, and Helen Hayes. Set in France, the film depicts rumors that Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia survived her family’s 1918 execution. Russian General Bounine (Brynner), a former White Army leader, plots to steal £10 million from her using an amnesiac (Bergman) who resembles Anastasia. Exiled Russian aristocrats, especially Dowager Empress Marie Feodorovna (Hayes), must be convinced of the claimant’s legitimacy so that the plotters can secure her fortune. Free admission, free popcorn, and a discussion to follow the film. See you there!
