Pickard Theater

Maine State Music Theater operates its summer season (June – August) out of Bowdoin College’s Pickard Theater. The striking Gothic-style granite and stained glass building offers 600 seats with proscenium stage equipped with a full fly system. The Off-Season Box Office is located at 22 Elm Street, Brunswick, ME 04011.





General Theatre Policies

Some main stage productions may contain mature content, language, or themes that may not be appropriate for children. We encourage you to seek additional information on each show you consider attending with a child. Anyone causing a disruption and hindering the enjoyment or our other audience members will be removed from the theatre at the discretion of the management.

Running Times

Running times vary from show to show and will be published on individual show pages as information becomes available.

Seating Times & Late Arrivals

Seating begins 1/2 hour prior to every performance. Late patrons will be seated at the discretion of management at an appropriate break in the performance. The actors and your fellow patrons appreciate your cooperation.

Air Conditioning

Our theatre is fully air conditioned for your comfort.


Concessions are sold at the concession stand outside the theatre lobby, or in inclement weather in the theater’s lower lobby. The concession stand opens open 1 hour prior to curtain and during intermission. A variety of beverages, snacks and coffee are available. Alcoholic beverages are not sold at the theater.


Fully accessible restrooms are located inside the lower lobby.


Located in the lobby and lower lobby, the elevator may be taken to the 2nd floor and balcony levels of the theater. Ushers are stationed at elevators to assist.

Wheelchair locations are available in Box AA and Row S of the theater. Advanced reservations are required.

Hearing Loop
Maine State Music Theatre has a cutting edge system that works with T-Coil hearing aids so that actor’s voices and sound cues are tracked directly through patron’s hearing aid, ear buds, or borrowed headset. Personal Electronic Devices

All electronic devices, including cell phones, should be turned off during the performances. Patrons on call may leave their cell phone with their row and seat number with the House Manager, who will notify them if they receive a call.

Eating, Smoking & Drinking

Patrons may bring water into the theater. No other beverages or food is allowed. Smoking is not permitted.

Recording & Photographs

Recording and photographing, in any way, is strictly prohibited.


There is limited parking around the Pickard Theater on the Bowdoin College campus, especially for matinee performances. Handicap Accessible parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you cannot find parking on the Bowdoin campus, there is street parking on Maine Street and the surrounding areas. CLICK HERE for more information about parking.
